Power of Silence

Power of Silence

written by: Snigdha Agrawal

In this world
where everyone
wants to be heard:
‘netas’, ‘bhakts’, influencers,
news anchors with rehearsed outrage,
and the eternally ‘aam janta’
with scant brains;
There survives a rarer breed:
those who, by dangerous choice,
keep their mouths sealed.
A scandalous act, indeed!

No hashtags.
No panel discussions.
No wisdom sprayed hourly
like deodorant.
They refuse the holy pilgrimage
to the Temple of Constant Opinion,
where every throat
competes to become
louder than the loudest.

And so, while the world
mistakes volume for substance,
they practice the ancient rebellion
of silence.
Not the silence of weakness.
But the kind that watches,
measures, remembers.
For silence, too, speaks:
It rolls its eyes,
declines applause,
laughs privately at slogans,
and leaves fools arguing
with their own echoes.

In that chosen quiet,
their minds stay unperturbed,
their energies undivided,
their work untouched
by the exhausting Olympics
of public noise.

Such power is not inherited.
It is earned,
through discipline,
through restraint,
through resisting
the seductive drumbeat
of the populist parade.

So, tell me…
When the shouting ends
And the loudspeakers finally crack
Who made the wiser choice?

‘netas’ – leaders
‘bhakts’ – followers
‘aam janta’ – commoner
