Russian Roulette

Russian Roulette

written by: K.H.

The Devil loaded the revolver
A heart in every other chamber he placed
He handed it over to me
Russian roulette was his favorite game
I placed it to my temple
As a laugh escaped his lips
He tisked me with his finger
said the game doesn’t play like this
And you appeared before me
And took the gun from my hands
My careless whisper of the night
With guilty feet I would dance with
A smile upon your lips
You pointed the gun at me
Pulled the trigger smoothly
Shooting a blank freely
As I braced for the impact foolishly
And my heart was taken over
And drown in your love I did
But you placed the gun to your own head
And fell for another instead
And once again you pointed at me
And your finger did snap the hammer
And deeper into a rabbit hole
I tumbled and fell rampant
But my heart was not your calling
Until the last heart left the chamber
My hand was finally yours
But I was shameful
For my soul was no longer tame
And wildflower grew within my heart
The delightful game the devil played
Left my world torn apart
For my heart broke every time
Another’s lips your mouth did grace
