SECONDS

Sitting in the shadows at the corner of the bar
Staring into space like you’re wishing on a star
Moving to the rhythm like the racing of your heart
Counting out the seconds of the time that we’re apart
Lost in foggy memories as you hang on to the past
Tall tequila daiquiris going down too fast
All your world is caving in with double vision blues
Can’t remember where you’ve been or where you left your shoes
Once again you wake up with your head filled up with pain
Face to face with trouble and the life that you disdain
Seems the days just drag into the nights when you’re not here
Dark and distant, dying, in the bed we used to share
Sitting at a table in the corner of my room
Staring at the four walls like they were some kind of tomb
Listening to a song you sung that’s tearing at my heart
Counting out the seconds of the time that we’re apart
