Shall Our Love Survive Beyond These Mortal Days?
written by: Walid Boureghda
Hearkening to the melodious verse
That from your mystic lips doth briskly burst,
Engulfs my heart in joy no one can nurse,
Soothes my fever and quenches my thirst.
‘Tis our speech that entwines our souls as one,
In a blazing strophe of smouldering hearts;
It flies across the words of moon and sun,
And lasts until our light of life departs.
Your words are graven upon my heart and soul,
And woven with care and love deep in my mind.
I yield on my knees to you to make me whole,
And cross my heart, my love for you is blind.
And in each breathing time I spend with thee,
I feel warm and bleak in a ceaseless strife:
A blazing yet moonless feel graven on me
Like an ardour of both demise and life.
You are my haven and my sole holiness,
Where I do bleed and bear an endless love;
I shall never surcease, I must confess:
– You are, you shall remain more than enough.
