Singular Song

Singular Song

written by: Jim Bates

What a singular kind of song it is
A herald of fresh new spring
When above the weary marshland
A red-winged blackbird begins to sing

Floating out above the cattails
In the early morning light
It lifts the tired winter spirit
With a sense of hope so bright

Off in the hazy distance
Like the loneliest kind of sigh
A faint glimpse of that coldest winter season
Waving a final long last good-bye.
