Solitude Is Bliss

Solitude Is Bliss

solitude is bliss…
you can be a
dancing dervish
if you wish,
the constellation
is wide open
to even miss,
loneliness as a
thought -then
by all means
you can resist,
the stars can
give you company
if you insist,
solitude is bliss…
contemplate
like a poet
if you wish
your feelings,
you can express
with the stroke
of a pen-
the galaxies
can come down
to you- just have
to think -when
solitude is bliss….
the mind has
myriad of things
the muses
can set them
on flying wings,
solitude is bliss
you can be
an artist
if you wish
splash the colors
stroke that brush
create a magical
image of bliss!

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

My inspiration to write this poem came from this quote by Paul Tillich:
“Loneliness expresses the pain of being alone and solitude expresses the glory of being alone”.

As poets, writers and artists we most certainly experience solitude to create our works of art. The ink flows smoothly in solitude!

Aparna Reddy is an educator and poet, based in California, USA. Writing poetry is her hobby and she enjoys writing in verse anything that touches her heart. As a busy professional and mother, writing poetry has helped her in meditating and relaxing. She believes reading and writing poetry is cathartic. She thinks contemplation is a great exercise for the mind: It connects the intangible mind with the tangible outside world. This connection, if genuine can produce great insights about our lives and the world around us. Some of her poems have been published in online literary magazines such as Muse India and Spillwords Press.
