  1. Where, do you hail from?

I was born in a quaint little town in Switzerland and immigrated to Canada when I was two years old. Although I grew up in the Niagara region, I now live in Ottawa, Canada.

  1. What is the greatest thing about the place you call home?

Home, to me, is a feeling of comfort and serenity. Home truly is where the heart is. As far as Ottawa goes, it’s rich in old architecture – one of my favourite things.

  1. What turns you on creatively?

Words! My stories are always inspired by one word. That’s why I choose the title first. After that, I’m driven by the rush that comes in creating new worlds and new characters that come alive on paper.

  1. What is your favorite word, and can you use it in a poetic sentence?

Masticates

“Vivacious and free, she masticates at the soiled memories of her youth and emerges a star of her own show, thirty years in the making.”

  1. What is your pet peeve?

When technology slows down the creative process! It seems my computer would like to restart whenever I’m in the middle of a crucial scene.

  1. What defines Barbara Avon?
I am defined by my passion – my lust for the next word. I am always in a hurry to live, and love, as deeply as possible. These are the feelings that are transferred from my fingertips to my keyboard. My name literally translates to “mysterious stranger” but I’m not so hard to figure out. I am my stories.
