Courtney Glover
- Where do you originate from?
I was born in College Park, Georgia, but I was raised in East Point, Georgia, and consider that my hometown. From the small towns to the beautiful beaches, Georgia is a gorgeous, scenic state full of history, southern charm, and natural beauty. The Peach State is also home to my favorite college football team, the Georgia Bulldogs.
- What do you cherish most about the place you call home?
New Jersey is a wonderful place to live. I cherish all of the people that I’ve met here. In my opinion, it’s the people that make a place special and feel like home. Though a long way from Georgia, New Jersey is my home. It’s a great place to raise a family. I’ve made some wonderful memories here with my family and friends. I also have two rabbits that I cherish immensely.
- What ignites your creativity?
There are several things that ignite my creativity. I love movies and I love artwork. I’ve been incredibly inspired by both. My poetry tends to be darker and more intense and there has been some very macabre and interesting artwork, as well as horror and suspenseful movies, that have inspired my poetry. I also enjoy the style and works of Edgar Allan Poe, who has been a huge inspiration for me. His writings are what originally inspired me to become a poet.
- Do you have a favorite word, and could you incorporate it into a poetic phrase?
One of my favorite words is mellifluous. Mellifluous is an adjective. It means a word used to describe a sound that is lovely, fluid, and enjoyable to listen to.
A nightingale’s midnight musings
Of love, loss and other ancient things
Its mellifluous song, infusing
Poems of arcane wonders and kings
Another favorite word of mine is recondite. It means a word used to describe something complicated or inconceivable for the normal mind to understand.
There are malevolent things, not of this world, hidden in plain sight.
Nefarious things, hidden from mortal eyes, malignant and recondite.
- What is your pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is someone who closes their mind off to the beauty of the everyday world. The simple beauty of birds singing or a wild rabbit in your yard just eating. People who refuse to see the natural wonders of this world we live in. From the ocean lapping against the shore to the fog settling over the mountains. There’s so much beauty all around us if we just look.
- How would you describe the essence of Courtney Glover?
I’m just a simple country girl who loves art, music, and animals. I love movies, poetry, and anything that moves the soul. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love spending time with my two pet rabbits as well. I love traveling and seeing new places. I love seeing the beauty in everyday, simple things, whether it’s watching wild rabbits in my front yard or driving through the mountains.
