Still Counting

After the recommended brief hiatus, he left the house at precisely the same time as always.
Excited to resume his scheduled daily wog, a walk with sprinkles of jog, he started counting his blessings, instead of the steps and sprinkles.
Last month’s fortuitous ER visit opened the aperture on his mislabeled routines. He couldn’t walk fast enough to get home for dinner. It was his turn to cook.
He was thinking meatloaf du jour. Always one of her favorites.
