Strange, a poem by Simon Drake at Spillwords.com

Strange

Strange

written by: Simon Drake

Strange
How relationships change
From can’t live without them
To refusing to utter their name

Strange
How quickly love becomes hate
From best friends forever
To not even mates

Strange
How feelings can dissipate
How what was once so adorable
Is now the thing that grates

Strange
To think you thought they were the one
They’d have your back in Battle
Not knowing they’d unloaded your gun

Strange
The choices you made
Once so assured and certain
Now too easily swayed

Strange
That I can’t accept fact
I can’t live without you
And don’t want you back

Strange
This life that I lead
You can’t see I am wounded
Smiling while I quietly bleed

Strange
I really do hope that things change
But if I become who I’m meant to be
What of me remains
