The Air Is Not Empty

The air is not empty
It is misty as the fog on a cold day
The breeze carries a weight as it passes by
Ever so swiftly
Familiar sounds fill the atmosphere with music
Heavier than a whisper, lighter than a murmur
It comes with the whistle of the wind

The air is not empty
It is as dusty as the desert storm on a hot day
The breeze carries a warmth as it passes by
Ever so elusive
Familiar voices fill the atmosphere with longing
Louder than a whisper, softer than a murmur
It comes with the whistle of the wind

I hear my name being called
Repeatedly
I say the words I wanted to say to wind
The breeze passes by
Ever so swiftly
Ever so elusive
The atmosphere is filled with something unfamiliar now
Thicker than a whisper, thinner than a murmur
My answer
It comes with the whistle of the wind
The air is not empty
It is as unnoticeable as my breathing on an ordinary day
