The Culture of Approved Invective

written by: Steve Pearson

You're fat, you're thin, you're old
You're past your best, we're told.
The culture of approved invective
Has arrived for the unprotected.
Too much, too little, too late.
It's acceptable now to berate
Your shape, your age, your verve.
You'll get what you'll deserve.
Get you, get this, get lost
I could barely give a toss
I'm me, I'm mine, I'm proud
My head shall not be bowed.

That's me at the front of the photo. I'm an atheist, socialist, humanist, poet and soon to be novelist. From here to there and a lot of shit in the middle. That's life.
