The Ever Shining Phoenix

sweet smelling flowers
work their soft magic
banishing the darkness
for a moment
of musing,
their petals beckoning me to reflect
upon the sunshine;
life can be tough but so am i—
more than every
bitter disappointment,
and every mistake;
like these tiny flowers i have my
own lyrics and fragrance
to grow as i flower and bloom
over and over—
i will never surrender my fire
and from the ashes i will always rise
i am the phoenix
dancing in the sunlight or in the darkness with the moonlight,
but forever shining no matter what.
