The Fire In The Rain

The Fire In The Rain

He told me he saw
A bright and fiery flame
Dancing upon the beach
After midnight, just after
The thunder had given way
To the torrential rainfall
He was curious:
What type of flame
Can withstand such a storm as this?
He came outside, unfeeling
The furious pelting of the raindrops
Defiant of the wind
Closer and closer still
He reached out his hand
My fire did not burn him
He said he felt my lips
Kiss every single one of
His fingertips and
From that moment on
He knew he would never
Be, apart from me
