The Shot Worth Missing
written by: E Barnes
I’m not an idiot; I know we’re young and there’s a chance she could shatter my heart. The difference is I don’t care. Falling for her isn’t a choice; I can’t stop it even if I try. Loving her feels like stepping onto a basketball court with seconds left, trusting my hands to make the shot. I take it without hesitation. If I miss, I miss. At least I tried. But if the ball falls through the net, I’ll know I reached something real. So I shoot, heart racing, loving her more each day, hoping she won’t finally break me.
