The Silence Within
written by: Muskan Singh
Not every voice
rises outward.
Some remain buried
beneath the ribs,
moving through the body
like a slow shadow
no one else can see.
They gather
in forgotten rooms of the heart,
where old griefs sit awake
long after the world
has gone to sleep.
They are heavier than words,
too fragile for speech,
too deep to be carried
into ordinary conversation.
Each day,
they pass through us quietly,
touching wounds
time never fully closed,
stirring memories
we thought had learned
how to rest.
And so we live beside them—
these unseen companions,
these echoes
that ask for nothing
yet refuse to leave.
This silence
does not belong to the mouth.
It belongs to the soul,
where it settles,
patient and enduring,
making a home
within us all.
