The Studio

The Studio

written by: Nancy Jageman

I only wanted you because
You were my muse. Soul on Piano,
Music spills over, your soul poured
Into mine. Magnetic pauses in our
Infrequent conversation, the electric tension as
My skate hits the ice and begins to glide.
Pen to paper, paper to ink, ink to mind.

What you never got was
Oil mixing in to paint, gliding smoothly over a soft canvas,
A sanded piece of wood, the sexual tension of
A home created in paint, gloss of linseed, glow of ochre.
My work was always surreal, too dreamlike for
The real world.
