The Walls of Trepidation and Uncertainty Surround Me

Like Rapunzel being secluded away
from the world high upon an abandoned tower,
surrounded by charcoal stonewalls,
I am surrounded by walls of trepidation and uncertainty
I have created within my mind.

Each wall raised from the ground
is constructed and build with apathetic concreate,
strong, dense wood and fragile drywall,
believing these walls surrounding me
would keep away anguish, misery, deceit,
animosity, paranoia, jealousy and betrayal
from the world from coming into my mind,
my home, when in reality these walls
are cutting away happiness, love, respect,
understanding, truth, loyalty and the human touch,
the human connection.

Cracking,
cracking and
cracking, forming
and spreading thin cracks
across the walls, like the Housatonic River.

These cracks created by suppressed
trepidation thoughts, fresh wounds,
and truthful realizations of these walls
I constructed within my own mind
are beginning to fall apart.

Each piece from these walls
plummets and shatters into pieces at my feet.
The paint I used to paint old memories,
old places and thoughts I want to see,
I want to believe, fade and chip away,
making the wall bare.
The walls suppurate tears of hurt
and regret for building and allowing these walls
of trepidation and uncertainty to surround me.

I yearn to shatter these walls with the hammer of healing.
I yearn to step beyond these walls and through the door.
I yearn for the human touch and connection, without a thought
of dread and of the past.

It is time I break the walls of trepidation and uncertainty surrounding me.
It is time I break the walls of trepidation and uncertainty surrounding me.
It is time I break the walls of trepidation and uncertainty surrounding me.
