Timber Wolves

Timber Wolves

written by: Mary Bone

Timber wolves
howled at my door.
There were scratches
on the house.
Hunger brought them
out of the forest,
especially when my soup
was brewing on the stove.
Howling started from hilltops
notifying their next of kin
that food was not far away.
