Time’s Hands
written by: Greg Massey
I didn’t know that I missed you
Time’s hands began to play on
the keyboard of my soul –
forming memories that were never
made
or have yet to exist
And what is my existence beyond a frail hope
that an errant note can be replaced by
a perfect symphony
forever young in my mind
That old sunrise keeps setting
leaving me lost in love’s fire
for yet another night
as I burn in its embers until the tides
stoke it with the morning light
When will I see your smile
and make yesterday a memory that
brings forth tomorrow’s laughs?
Break-ups
and
Break-downs that
broke us
can, indeed, lead to break-throughs
For hope is not in vain
as long as time’s hands
play yesterday’s song,
today.
