To A New Old Friend

written by: Simcha Heiser

A silent wall between us two,
Captivated by midnight blue,
I'm sorry, my friend, this didn't last long,
Bear in mind we did nothing wrong,
No words spoken between us still,
'Who will break first?' Has lost its thrill
Nothingness seems to be understood
To save this, I don't know if I would,
Our memories just have too much worth
To forget, to bury them, covered by earth
And I know if we went back to the start
This would've felt like a stab to the heart
But months have passed and now I've learned
Its ok to let go of something once yearned
