Undertow of Emotion

Undertow of Emotion

written by: Gertrude Fenwick

When waves of ugly emotions,
Keep roaring that they must be heard,
Smile sweetly and smirk from a distance,
As you soar with the wings of a bird.

Acknowledge the existence of anger,
Of hurt and ideals unfair,
Don’t get dragged by that ravenous monster,
For your essence will rip and tear.

Curiously examine the chaos,
From a height, the darkness inside,
Be kind to your vessel that holds it,
And give counsel as if to a child.

Soar towards the light of the future,
Time passes, and storms do settle,
Follow your attuned moral compass,
And thus, you will prove your mettle.
