Unending Story
written by: Gail Constable
Once I was like a tightly wound spring, so full of potential energy waiting for the race to begin.
I was a furled rosebud, holding my perfumed essence as it gathered itself to scent the world.
I was a cloud, pregnant with rain, I struggled to contain, leaking drops on thirsty fields below.
I was ready to march into my purpose, even as my feet stumbled on the rocky path, blood drops staining soil.
I craved love and the universe sent you to me, a vessel to pour into endlessly, with no thought of …. anything.
You were the sun that warmed my pale flesh, allowing me to reflect your fiery glory which thrilled me.
I burned for you, lit your path even as you went further away, and I was consumed, still am, yet with less fuel.
I am the tiny light that winks in the velvety night sky, which expired long ago but still shines for others to wish upon…
My purpose fulfilled.
