Visions of November
written by: TM Arko
South flying Snow Geese
Silhouette against the squalid sky
Fiery autumn leaves
Dead on the ground like
Soldiers on a botanical battlefield
Swollen rivers
Copper turbidity
Shadows of darkness
Across my soul
Wanders like
A raging somnambulist
Smoke chilled evenings
Direful days
The whole world
Suspended
Between the dark and the light
While I fight
The thoughts in my head
From the endless summer
Broken promise
To the future winter’s dread
Down the bitter night halls
Love flickers faraway
Hammering winds at night
Shaking nightmares
These visions of November
At play inside my brain

I live in the Pacific Northwest. A small community with farms and antique shops. Lots of rivers and lakes and these are some of the themes I like. I am a technical writer by trade so poetry offers me an escape from the more mundane industrial articles I work on day to day. I love music and am a classic rock fanatic. Love good books and stories too.
