Water Under The Bridge

Water Under The Bridge

written by: Kay Lesley Reeves

We stood together hand in hand
Watching the silvery shapes
Dart through the water
Under the bridge.
Weed streaming from the stoney bed
Hiding places, feeding places.
Rocks dappled in light and shadow.
For hours we watched the fish swim
But somehow stay in the same spot.
That was fifty years ago.
If we went back now
Would we see the fish under the bridge
Or, like us,
Have they too
Moved on?
