When Loneliness Is a Way of Life

written by: Sara Ali

When loneliness is not a phase, but breath you learn to take,
A shadow cast on every step, each smile you have to fake.
It hums beneath the quiet days, and hums through sleepless nights,
A ghost that sits across the room, and dims the softest lights.

It teaches you the art of hush, of silence finely spun,
Of whispering to empty halls when all the crowds are done.
You walk through noise like water still, untouched, unheard, unseen,
A ghost with beating heart beneath a skin so cold and clean.

You learn to pour your morning tea for no one else to share,
To lay the table just for one, and breathe the thinner air.
But even in this hollow place, where echoes fold and bend,
A flicker dares to rise again—what’s lonely can still mend.

For sometimes in the darkest soil, the strongest roots are grown,
And even hearts that break each day may bloom when left alone.
So carry on, and let it ache—but never lose the fight—
The stars are made for empty skies, and shine their best at night.
