Wounded Souls
written by: Maggie Watson
Wounded souls.
Fractured frames.
Carrying pain.
Searching for shelter.
Kind eyes that do not chastise.
Warm arms that hold the fragments.
A soothing voice that says, “With me, you are safe.”
Wounded souls carrying karmic weight.
The burden sits on their shoulders.
It darkens the windows as if it were
sewn into the fibre of their being over many lifetimes.
Wounded souls.
Always anticipating war.
Those safety pins that hold them together
are now worn thin.
Fragile to touch.
Too afraid to love.
Wounded souls need no more salt added.
Why do we forget they are still human
as we ignore their silent screams?
