Impact

It’s amazing to see the smiles come back to their faces.
The warmth shining through their playful eyes.
The lost innocence coming back in their hearts.
They were lost to turmoils of the adult world.
Bounced between decisions that were not right or wrong;
they just were.
Through it all their light refused to go out.
Their love still burned as bright as ever.
Waiting to come out from under the darkness.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

This piece was written as a self reflection and reminder of lives impacted by divorce. I am fortunate to have a fantastic co-parent relationship with my ex-wife which has allowed us to always place our children first when interacting with each other post divorce and we have all been the better for it.
