Two Weeks Today

Two Weeks Today…
A wooden box,
carved.
The repetition of a
pattern.
Flowers atop.
Gently my fingers trace the hardened
flora.
Somewhere beneath you rest.
I cradle you as I walk unable to
talk.
I fold over in
tears.
You no longer need to
fear.
Vacant your collar.
An open ring.
The easel, adorned.
My heart will forever mourn.
A shelf up high.
Your bird’s eye view.
I store you away after begging you to
stay.
