Rotating Fan

Rotating Fan

written by: Julian Matthews

I guess you are not into spin
It’s rotation and pivot action
that turns you on

It’s a kind of meditation – even contemplative
First this way Stop
Then that way Stop

Back and forth with soldier-like regularity
A syncing brass player in a marching band
You are a moving instrument orchestrating
the air

The word for it is oscillate, from the Latin oscillare
which means “to swing” — but you’re no swinger
You are a go-go-getter, caged on a wall,
gyrating to your own rhythm,
the music in your head-
wind sublime

Unlike a pendulum that tells time, your tick tock
clockwork motion is what brings the chill factor
to every room, rendering us all
cooler than we seem
