A Chance at Love

A Chance at Love

written by: Illustrious Da Poet

I opened the door just a crack,
Let love’s light slip through the black,
Fingers tremble, heart unsure,
But maybe this time, I’ll endure.

I’ve traveled roads where shadows lay,
Mended wounds from yesterday,
Yet still, a scar, tender and deep,
Reminds me there’s more healing to keep.

Your smile, it beckons me to try,
To stretch these wings and learn to fly.
But oh, my soul still needs to mend—
A little more love, just around the bend.

I’m close, so close, to being whole,
To letting love unchain my soul.
But for now, just give me grace—
A tad bit more to find my place.

Let patience be the song we sing,
As healing wraps its gentle wing.
For love is near, I feel its dance—
Just a bit more time, then we’ll take our chance.
