Animal Instincts

He had a rapacious appetite when it came to her. His single-mindedness overflowed in public as his hands snaked over Susan’s soft olive skin, exploring every centimetre of her curvaceous body as they danced sensually to an entranced audience. If circumstances had permitted, he would have had her there and then; spread her legs and sired her like a black stallion, ensuring the purity of his race. This, of course, made Susan smile. She adored being in the spotlight with the envious eyes of open-mouthed old biddies and their salivating husbands piercing through her trembling flesh, or giggling children being pulled away by outraged, if not a tad jealous, mothers, who, after watching for longer than they should have, realised it was not the tango performance they had expected. Anyone and everyone’s attention had to be illicitly taken and retained as she flicked her long dark lashes, seducing her partner with deep bedroom eyes whilst secret voyeurs in the audience enjoyed their performance. “Did you see their reaction?” she’d often say later in the privacy of their love nest.
My habitual invitation for a drink would inevitably end in him trying to include me in their squalid games. He repulsed me with his sexual insinuations. His innuendos as to my own sexuality made me reel and would leave me boiling inside, yet also smiling to mask my true hatred for him. I needed to understand why this childhood friendship with Susan couldn’t blossom further with me. She knew how much I loved her. Many years ago, I’d proven it to her. Many years ago, I had enjoyed the nectar of those sweet lips. So why did she abandon me for him?
I had to show Susan that he wasn’t interested in her. He was in it for her patrimony, which one day she would lose as he surreptitiously slipped away into the background before she would have time to notice. She had to realise that under other circumstances, he wouldn’t know she existed. I’d make her resent the time she wasted with him instead of being with me. The purity of our love could never be matched.
I had planned it well. I would confront him and then offer him a handsome payoff to leave us alone. I willingly accepted an invitation to their love nest. A bottle of champagne in my hand, we made our way up to the fourth floor to celebrate another successful evening. They joined me on the oversized chaise-lounge and we clinked glasses until the bottle was almost empty.
I had studied him all evening and was ready for the kill. Susan was inebriated from the whole evening, and sleep seemed a natural progression. I waited patiently until the glass fell from her sagging hand, spilling the last dregs onto the well-polished parquet. She could never hold her drink. She looked so beautiful, and I knew this was my chance to prove his true intentions. Retaining my composure, I stared straight into his scandalously blue eyes. His attention was already fixed on me as he moved closer to my inviting lips. Plunging his tongue into my quivering mouth, he began to explore. He pulled me to the floor as our bodies joined in the passion of the moment; his hands moving quickly, claiming their long-awaited prize. I did nothing to stop him. I did nothing but enjoy his sweet ambrosia as our bodies gyrated to their own internal music. He bit the back of my neck as he climaxed, leaving me shuddering in total surrender.
My euphoria was shattered with his cacophonous laughter.
“Did you get all that, my love?” I turned as Susan smiled that wicked smile I so adored.
“My sweetest Carey. You look great on film. This will go down well with our clients.
Your animal instincts are perfect!”
