Answer Me Please!

Answer Me Please!

written by: Pranab Ghosh

Soaking in the sound…

Lonely?
Cacophonous?

The murmur
Can move stones
And hearts
Alike!

Time stays unmoved!

Time sways
As
Time hangs in silence
On the distempered walls

In shame?
In agony?
Or
In glee?

I soak in the sound
Diverse
Yet
United
In its
Abstract
Incompatibility,
As I sip in my
Black cuppa!

I soak in the sound
And
Wait
For
The
Answer…

But…

Who will…???

***

The walls,
The history
Or
…?!

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Established in 1876, College Street Coffee House, as it is commonly called, is an iconic landmark at the book-mart and college/University ‘para’ (colony) in the city of joy. Previously frequented by such personalities as Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Amartya Sen, etc., it was the hotbed of ‘activities’, ranging from education to culture to politics. Be it the rebellious Hungry generation of poets or the poets of the ‘Kallol’ era just before it, the immortal cafe did provide ‘shelter’ for thought-provoking ideation over steaming coffee and snacks. Its character hasn’t changed, but the quality of visitors has over time, now plagued by decadence!
