Mother Knows Best
Mother Knows Best written by: Abigail Seltzer - She will present me with a thin sheaf of paper after hinting...
I am a Scottish Jewish writer based in London for many years, passionate about all things artistic and creative. My love of writing began as soon as I could hold a pen. My first experience of being published was in my school magazine, where I submitted (and accepted) every year. I became one of the editors, and under the beady eye of my English teacher, learnt to separate the wheat from the chaff. I was also a budding playwright, writing and directing plays every year at school from the age of 9 to 16. Too afraid to follow my star, I studied medicine and practised as a psychiatrist for many years. But in my heart, I was always a writer. I attended lots and lots of creating writing classes, and in 2019 was accepted on to the prestigious Faber novel writing course. I still haven't finished writing that novel because I was side-tracked by short story writing. At present, I'm still writing short stories, but mostly working on a novella. The unfinished novels are still hanging around, wondering when I'll finish them. I'm also the Founding Editor of Thin Skin magazine, which showcases the work of older writers.
