Karen grew up on Vancouver Island without television for most of her childhood. This encouraged her to entertain herself with reading and writing poetry and stories. She has entered and won a few contest including winning the British Columbia Farmer's Market Ode to Farmers. She was delighted to have a poem selected for Off Topic's Wayward and Upward Anthology. When it feels challenging she reminds herself she writes for joy.
