The author of this work, Mikel Maureé Robinson, is the Executive Director of the Plains Indians & Pioneers Museum in Woodward, Oklahoma. She grew up in Protection, Kansas, graduating from high school in Coldwater, Kansas. She has a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. Mikel is an accomplished writer, photographer, and artist.
