Birds and Cats

written by: Pegah Rahmati Nezhad

albatrosses
flap vigorously
to soar in peace
for days on end
balance

sleeping
with a wide smile
the street cat
in front of
kebab shop

ducks
see-sawing across
the country road
i do love…
this traffic jam

Tiffany blue
did robins
ever sell
the color
of their eggs?

she calls her cats
Button
and Marble
it’s always
about eyes

falling leaves
cat tries to
grab a ginkgo fan
mid-air…
in vain

***

copper colored
cat’s eyes
and the yarn ball

darting towards
her voice
rescued blind cat

turquoise eggs…
of grey catbird
sweet surprise

trying to read a cotton candy cloud pawmistry
