Leonora swiped open the message app on her phone and read:
‘I saw you last night.’
Shaken, she tapped a reply.
‘Idk what you mean.’
Ding
‘At the Dog and Duck.’
Ding
‘I know it was you.’
Ding
‘With Jake.’
Leonora was busted. Trying to brazen it out, she messaged back quickly.
‘Not me Daniel.’
Ding
‘I saw you. Having drinks at the bar.’
Ding
‘What’s going on?’
Ding
‘What you up to?’
Ding
‘Leo?’
Leonora bit her lip then came to a decision. She messaged back.
‘Planning yr birthday surprise you jealous idiot.’
Ding
‘Oh. Right. Sorry.’
Ding
‘Thanks.’
‘It’s OK. You prolly would of found out anyway.’
She paused then added.
‘Why would you think I had something going on with Jake? If he wasn’t your mate I wouldn’t be seen dead with him.’
