Cloaks of Deception

Cloaks of Deception

written by: Juliya Susan Jose

People vary from each other
Some can fake their own persona.
Sometimes even through a glance
A smile, or an affectionate touch.
They’ll do genial things with others
to feel that they’re not deceptive.
They’ll pretend deftly to
keep a good mark among others.
But their facade betrays the people around,
unfolding their actual self.

My heart aches with contempt
For those who masks their true selves.
It’s simply evident from the act they put forth
These find their peace of mind
in performing such deeds.
Always keep in mind that
These make-beliefs will not go well
all the time as planned.
Destiny eventually catches up
With everyone involved.

Amidst those malicious personas
there are still good souls aglow,
who became part of our life.
An ideal figure of confidante
The camaraderie we tend to share,
were undoubtedly bona fide.
The parting of lips which is no bogus
A reliable hand to hold
Let’s keep it touchwood
Keeping the malevolent gazes at bay.
