Concert at Sea

Concert at Sea

written by: Gypsie-Ami Offenbacher-Ferris

Pelicans dancing
with the wind
a choir of seagulls
rehearse around the
prehistoric pelecanids

Fish do-si-do inside
vibrant colored schools
beneath waves rolling shoreward
tinged with green and blue
topped with foamy white crests

Boats skim chaotic
across the surface
disrupting the pelicans
silencing the seagulls
and scattering the twirling fish

The wake sprints across the bay
a tsunami that passes
with each racing water vehicle
breaking the well-rehearsed
concert of nature for a time

Pelicans return in force
their dance enhanced
by the fish jumping
to escape the tsunami
threatening to swallow them

Only to be swallowed
by the pelicans and seagulls
diving head-strong
into the whirling
swirling depths below
