Dandelion, I’ll pick you up
study you closely
then give you a puff
try to blow you all away
in just one breath
and if I do (I never do)
I’ll make a wish
I’ll wish on you
and when that wish
doesn’t come true
I’ll come back and
cry to you

but I’ve never stopped to think
about how pretty you are
how you sit there in your beauty
and wait for me to spread it far
I’ve never stopped to notice
that every time I do this
I spread your seeds all around
and then you grow again in the ground
and I pick you up and again
and I wish for him
and then I come back crying
when he doesn’t notice me
I’m so selfish you see.
