Eight Letters

Eight Letters

written by: Marlon Perez

Walking in the middle of darkness,
It feels like I’m hopeless.
Not even a sparkle of light can I see—
Still dealing with the pain you caused me.

Hearing your voice say those eight letters,
A smile was crafted on my face.
The day I felt butterflies in my stomach,
Into your beautiful brown eyes, I gazed.

But I can’t feel that anymore
Since the day you left me.
Now, I feel stuck in a dark space,
As if I can never break free.

Reminiscing about your sweet words
Feels like it’s killing my soul.
Tears slowly drip down,
As I tell myself, “I’m a fool.”

But I will keep those eight letters,
Even if they bring me pain.
I can survive this battle,
I can surpass this ache.
