Fall

Fall

written by: SmithaV

Fall, a noun and a verb
Did the noun come first,
and did it give birth to the verb
Or was it the other way around?

Was it the falling of yellow ochre,
rust red and sap green leaves
on the firmament that gave the season its name?
Was it God’s tears pouring as rain from the heavens

Or was it flakes of soft, white snow gliding down
upon the earth like feathers from a bird in flight
that led to the action of moving downwards
being called ‘fall’?
