Gypsy Moon
written by: Dylan Dunn
Lo! See how the gypsy moon, with her half-lidded gaze,
Swinging from her lazy hammock, brings the end to days.
As she jingles her siren bells,
With their whispers which foretells
A bewitching spell from her winking eyes
That makes even the stoutest souls to be hypnotized,
As she sings sweet seductive melodies
Carried by the aromatic nightly breeze.
O’, how the weary men, so easily enticed,
Are drawn away from their labors by the spice.
The harlots, the fools, and even the sloths
Are bade to sink beneath their linen cloths.
They all say
“Forget the troubles of today,
“And worry not for the morrow,
“For in sleep, we revel with our sorrows
As if they were our dearest lover.”
As they sink so deep beneath the covers.
Tears are fermented into wine
And even the starving are able to dine
In the dreams they do keep
As they sleep so very, very deep.
