How Weird A Guest This Life Is
written by: Gatreak Chiang Reath
The spark of your youth is fading
Every winter, you stretch your hand to the east
Hoping to stop the wind that keeps blowing away your days
But sadly, it’s not that way; turns out you might not reach May.
You wonder at the first clouds of the season
How bluish and tired they are of showing up
And you reminisce on your yesteryears
How time flies, and how little the sky cares.
It’s a pity you will not live forever; a pity the rocks mock you
Cocksure you will leave them behind, grey as they were when your mother was born.
How fast it is to stumble upon the midday of life!
How fast is your hair embracing the colour of the sky!
In the evening of next year, you will go to your bed with back pain
And cry over the apology you owe your dead cousin
Oh! How many years couldn’t wait!
Oh! How weird a guest this life is!
