I Miss Me Before I Met You

I Miss Me Before I Met You

written by: MI Kelly

I miss me from before I met you
Where are those nights of lying in the dark
Face beaming with reminiscence
Of full days lived with vigor and people?
Gone are those times.

Now, late till night turns to dawn
You lie in my palm, the world slyly in my arms
And my fingers caress your surface
Sliding, tapping rhythms none can hear
With you, my love language is time.

The promise you give is the world at my feet
But the prize I get is like Tantulus’
Still, I cradle you, sheltering you from everyone
Though you bring the world to me
My smiles are beamed at you while the world sees words.
