In A Heartbeat

In A Heartbeat

written by: Marie Johnson-Ladson

We were having fun
and enjoying life
I knew when you were happy or sad
You had sickness and troubles

But
Had good times, too
It seemed like yesterday you were fine and doing well

But
In a heartbeat things went fast
You weren’t able to do and/or say much

But
When you did, I understood

And
That’s why I say
Our days are long but our years are short

If you can, start living life more
Do what you can
Go places you want to see
Call or see people you care for
Tell them you love them
Make plans to do better

Forgive, if you can
And
That includes you, too
Don’t hold grudges
To let yourself feel free

And
To my special person
You tried your best
And
Did some amazing things
You had a lot more living to do

But
In a Heart Beat you weren’t there anymore

So
I’ll see you in my dreams and keep you in my heart!
