In Between

In Between

When faces fail to convince
The laughter echoes back into something else
Mocking each other out for this togetherness
With a misleading sense of humor
Guilt-tripping on constricted conversations
Meandering up to a horizon
That divides us into different paths
Allowing tears to become an escape
Gloomy eyes speak of naïve silence
About those mistakes we have endorsed
To distort the image of what we are to each other
We may have fallen off the bridge of trust
But let us find a way to remain at ease in our hearts
Away from the shadows of yours and my references
Even when we feel something like missing each other
Let’s not silently ponder
Hanging in between what was and what could have been
