Inadequate, a poem by Dawn Pisturino at Spillwords.com

Inadequate

Inadequate

written by: Dawn Pisturino

I love you.
What more can I say?
I love you. I love you. I love you.
The words fall like dead leaves
Into a burning pit,
Too inadequate to convey what I feel
Or describe what I do:
The deep, abiding longing,
The sleepless nights,
The restless waiting,
The tortured cruelty of wanting you.
There are no words.
How can I express what I cannot define?
The poets pen beautiful verses,
Trying to bring meaning to that phrase.
Love is a feeling, an action, a state of being.
Is it always patient and kind?
Is it really tolerant and humble?
Is it never resentful and selfish?
What is love?
How do I express it?
How do I show you?
What does it all mean?
