It Was The Monster Smash!
written by: Ken Gosse
The little toe, as most folks know,
that fiendish body part,
takes sudden pain, so anthropos,
beyond a work of art
by seeking out, without a doubt,
all objects, known or not,
discovering the shortest route
to hasten its own plot
where it must slam into a jamb,
surprising you or me,
or smash its head just like a ram,
then unsurprisingly
send instantly, intense degree
of pain up to our brain,
emitting screams which burst our seams—
relief, though, is in vain.
They still abide on either side,
well-knowing what’s in store;
unless they’re lost (we dread that cost)
we know we’re in for more.
